Do Not Buy
I just bought the Simplicity -SMF218 mount and tried to read the instructions. I did mount before a TV with a fixed mounts, so I thought this to be a DYI job. Immediately discovered that one needs to be an engineer to understand the manual. Good News!, there is information about videos that would help. The manual suggest that one watch it by going to SANUS.com/2688. However, the video there is for another very different mount!!!! So I went to the home page of the site. I searched for the model number written on the manual and the box: SMF218-B1. The search results : "pour search for SMF218-B1 found no products". I have no idea how this company intends to make money!

Not for beginners, Install is for experts
I am not a Bob the Builder type and bought this product based on the advertised easy installation of needing only a Phillips Screwdriver on the box. I was shocked to find out when I opened the box, I needed more tools to complete this project. I had to borrow a stud finder from my neighbor, and ended stopping mid-project to buy the socket wrench. Overall, it took me 4 hours to install this mount on my wall for my 24 inch tv. The instructions are not clear as to place the bars horizontally or vertically on the back of the TV. In fact, there are no written instructions-which was not helpful, especially on how to place the vertical bar. I am disappointed that the "How To" videos are not even for this product. Also, in trying to use the socket wrench to secure the mount, the arm of the mount blocks a full rotation to use the socket wrench to install "EASILY". Basically, the black screws, still stick out and are not perfectly aligned with the wall. It would help to have the actual mount go over the head of the black of the screw instead of having users try to do do a quarter to half rotation to insert the top and bottom black screws. I struggled A LOT by myself to mount my small tv. If I had known, how much I would have worked to install this mount by myself, I would not have bought this product. If you are someone who is comfortable with installing wall mounts and have the right tools to begin with, then this should be easy for you-definitely this product is not for beginners.

Easy installation but frustrating also
This wall mount was fairly easy to install. Wish the manual & videos were a little more user friendly.
A big raspberry, though, to you, Sanus, for leaving out my 1/4 x 2 3/4 lag screws! Nothing more frustrating than stopping mid-project to make a run to the hardware store. Needless waste of my time.

You're on your own
The product works fine, but the website is more useless than the instructions in the box. So that's a 4 for the product, but a 1 for assembly instructions. Basically you have to figure it out for yourself.

Parts do not fit each other
The bracket mounted to the TV has a slot for the arm mounted to the wall is not correct size. The tv bracket is literally sitting on a smooth piece of metal. This is going to fall on the floor.

Not that frustrating
I know why most raters are frustrated. The surface on the brackets is rubberized. If you attach the brackets to the TV monitor and then try to thread the screws connecting the vertical to the horizontal brackets, they don’t thread correctly. BUT, if you pre-thread the screw holes on the horizontal brackets (4 holes) before attaching them to the monitor, the vertical bracket attaches nicely. I hope this helps.

Screws to mount to its own components don't fit
You can't secure the Sanus mount to its own components. Which means that the entire unit is useless. The arm cannot be secured to the TV as a critical middle component cannot be secured to the TV brackets. These are all Sanus parts out of the box and they cannot be fitted together? Fairly amazing and utterly frustrating. Purchased at Costco

Screws Are too Small
Bought new Samsung 50 inch and added this to my cart at Costco. First issue…screws are too small in circumference. With 3 optional screws you think they would at least have right fit for Samsung.!!

Poor Instructions, Lack of correct hardware
The quality of the product I will give it 4 stars. Installation was fairly simple and straight forward, however, there was virtually no instructions. There is a website address for a installation video, which does not exist. Then I had to search their website for my product, and try and find the instructions.
After that, it all seemed okay, until I realized I didn't have the correct screws supplied to me, and had to make a trip to the hardware store the next day for the correct screws. hint, most are 10mx32 -3/8" to 1/2" length with washers seemed to work well. A 30 minute installation took 2 days. Get it together SANUS!

Instructions awful - mount is pretty good.
As with others, bought at Costco -- instructions are poor, video link is non-existant, and phone number for assist doesn't work. C'mon team.

Disappointing
Instructions suck. Video link given doesn't work. Dissapointed I can only mount directly on a stud with no ability to span between studs. I'll keep looking and will get it up but disappointed

Did not meet my expectations
Contrary to claim on the box, this mount does not tilt, up and down; only horizontally. The design is such that the fasteners do not hold the screen in position. As soon as you manipulate the screen, it becomes out of plumb, vertically and horizontally. Also, it relies on you happening to havin a stud in exactly the right spot for the mount. There is NO adjustment available to overcome this limitation. Overall: Very disappointed with this product. I think it's the only thing I ever bought at Costco that was subpar.

Doesn't span studs
Only mounting option is to mount directly over a stud. Doesn't include mounting panel that spans studs like most (admittedly larger) TV mounts. So you can't really choose where you mount the TV. Hard to imagine that works for many people.

Don’t fall for it
This product is a head scratcher. The materials and design seem solid and good quality, but the quality control in regards to making sure you can actually assemble it is a total failure. It should be a piece of cake to put it together but as others have mentioned, they do not provide the right sized screws you need for a key step in the process. You’d think by now they would have recalled the faulty kits and corrected the issue, but no. As it is, it’s totally useless.

Instructions and pictures SUCK!!!!
Just bought this and I'm am both a technical writer AND very handy. Video is no help since it is for an entirely different mount. IF I was to mount my TV the way this instruction tells me I would have to drill the mounting plate for the second lag screw. Not sure if I want to take it back or just put it up the way I have decided is the correct way to mount it.
Also missing content on the web site, the website you are taken to does not have the height tool that is talked about. Maybe it is somewhere different I have only looked where on the site for this mount.
How hard would it be to have a separate video of each of the different models. They wouldn't even have to have professionals do it, just someone using the exact product and showing you what is attached to the wall, what is attached to the TV and how to put the different parts together. The instructions say watch the video, but the video is no help since it is a different product.

Horrid Instructions
Whoever wrote the instructions for this model needs to be flogged in a public square. Also - the links for help do NOT apply to the model as advertised in the packaging and instructions. The videos are not for the correct mount, and the instructions could have easily been put together in a competent way by a middle schooler with common sense. I’m honestly mind blown by the lack of attention to simple details on this. Also - don’t tell me what to say. Bite me.

Hardware Kit v2
We had this same mount 3 years ago, it worked great. They must have redone their hardware kit. We moved and bought the same kit (from same store) this but the latest kit does not have screws in same lengths as last time and would not work. Returning.

Works great!
This was by far the easiest wall mount I've installed. It was for a Vizio 50" TV. To those who complained about not being able to center the TV on the wall, I had the same problem. We have a vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom, and no stud in the middle. I simply attached the wall bracket to the stud to the left, and folded the TV to the wall with the arm extended to the right. Now it's centered.

Best mount I have ever used, I have 2 now!
I got this mount and use one in my garage I thought it was excellent with all the range and has in all the various angles you can put it in far better than any mount I ever had this mount moves around and tilts everywhere I mounted a 49” LG tv I think it’s fantastic the hardest part is finding the studs to mount it securely I like it so much though that I put another one inside my house.

Not compatible with Sony 55' TV
Bought this from Costco like most people writing the review.
When installing I was trying to screw the middle plate into back of the TV. Yet there was no location to screw into. It is a little frustrating having to go back to Costco to return. I wish that the box was clear about what TVs it is compatible with. It would save a lot of people time.
The product has very unclear instructions, which has labels for all the screws yet doesnt tell you which ones to use.

Difficult to install; poor quality
I bought this mount from Costco several months ago. Instructions are not helpful. Mount is not heavy duty. Difficult to install. Even after mounting wall mount to studs and verifying that it was level; TV frame does not allow for level installation. Sanus product is not very high quality.

Find out if your TV is compatible BEFORE you buy!
Bought it Costco and opened the package and used the HeightFinder feature only to find out my 32" LG TV isn't even compatible. There is nothing on the outside of the box to let you know your TV may or may not be compatible. Big misstep on Costco's part.

Solid wall mount! Easy to follow directions
I just mounted an older (awesome) 30" monitor to my kitchen wall. Unit feels very solid and secure. Easy to adjust tilt and level, as well as extending and turning. I found the enclosed written directions very clear and easy to follow. I like how all the hardware was separated in individual labeled packets. No fishing through a pile of screws, nuts, and bolts. The Sanus heightfinder tool online is nice, though I ended up having to mount higher due to an electrical junction box cover. I did put locktite on the bolts into the back of the monitor for some added peace of mind.
Happy with purchase. Thanks!

Don’t waste your money
If the stud you need to mount the Sanus to isn’t in the perfect location then you’re out of luck. Considering that most studs are 16 inches apart, odds are Your TV will be off center. There’s no way to center it. I’m taking it back to Costco so I can buy a different brand—one a bit more honest about their products. Nowhere on the packaging or in the instructions is a warning about this design flaw.

Worked Great for our TCL 55"
I was a bit concerned when I came to the Sanus website to watch the videos about installation and see comments that the video link wasn’t exactly like their model. I then went to the reviews and read one from just 14 days ago that leaves me even more uncomfortable as the negative review described my exact scenario; I bought the wall mounting bracket at Costco along with a TCL model 55R613. The previous reviewer said it didn’t work for him and his TV. So before I got too involved, I called customer support to clarify. I had to wait on hold a bit shy of 10 minutes before speaking to Max, who verified the weight and mounting arrangement should work.
I decided to give it a go and it worked perfectly. The TV came with screws in the mounting bracket holes, so I didn’t have to determine which ones to use from the included “variety pack”. The mounting area is on the lower half of the TV and I was able to maximize bracket contact by facing the concave side towards the bottom. After that, it was pretty much exactly like the instructions, including the tilt and leveling instructions. The only problem I had besides the customer service hold time wait was that the TV power cord needs to be much longer.

Not usable for our TCL 55”
Just bought this at Costco because we were also buying a 55” TCL (6-series R613/R617) tv. The instructions are supposed to be simple “only 3 steps” but all of the well labeled pieces are not named the same in the pamphlet of instructions. The video online is not the same as the model we have even though we went to the website recommended. So after we screwed in the brackets to the back of the TV and was told to center the next piece we realized it wasn’t going to work because we could not center it and still screw both sides down.
